Varon Vehicles Corporation is developing its proprietary flying cars for city / suburb transportation services. They are designated V200 in reference to the two occupants they carry, and they are a building block of the Varon Vehicles transportation system. The two company business models being developed are passenger transportation and courier transportation. For passenger transportation the users will board as passengers and for courier transportation the V200 flying cars will have a cargo bay module instead of a passenger seat. In both cases the V200 flying cars will have a company driver.
The entire architecture revolves around Urban Friendliness which means that the entire transportation system, including our flying cars, are devised to be easily adoptable by cities and people of today. We don’t talk about pilots, we talk about drivers. We don’t talk about flying, we talk about driving. We don’t talk about aircrafts, we talk about flying cars. Urban Friendliness has evolved into a meaningful design concept encompassing interior, exterior and operational design.
The V200 flying cars in the two configurations, V200T for passenger transportation and V200C for courier transportation, are Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) vehicles with a very small footprint. They are very simple in construction and do not require a pilot, just a driver. In fact, the entire cabin has been designed like that of a regular street car. The onboard flight computer takes care of all the complicated control while the driver just drives the car in the air using a ubiquitous steering wheel and a few push buttons, with all dynamics limited to safe ranges by the flight computer. The V200’s have no pedals, which is a feature purposely constructed to allow for more inclusion of drivers to the company. Driving the V200’s is as simple as it can get.
Urban Friendliness means that the V200 flying cars don’t have any propellers outside the body of the vehicle for urban safety; it means that the field of view of the occupants is properly obstacle free while recreating the same vision of a front hood like that of a common street car; it means that driving is intuitive and the feel as seamless as possible when compared to street cars. The V200’s are driven within 3D virtual lanes, which confine them in location and altitude and are presented to the driver by the flying car’s systems. Virtual lanes are managed by our Traffic Management System (TMS) which is a centralized system that monitors all our flying cars traffic and dynamically assigns virtual lanes to keep them safely separated and safely away from all other aeronautical traffic while orchestrating individual vehicles by managing the virtual lanes assigned to each one. The virtual lanes indicate to the driver where to go from automatic take-off at the vertiport of origin to automatic landing at the destination vertiport in a safe and controlled manner. Anyone should be able to become a V200 driver for our company.
Aside from a simple, reliable and redundant construction, additional onboard safety features of the V200 flying cars range from collision avoidance and obstacle detection, warning prompts and automatic failsafe actions, to safety seats, tested construction and structural considerations. For safety, the driver is always in control unless the flight computer detects a need to auto-land in an emergency. The flight computers are offline which ensures they are hack-free.
Urban Friendliness considers that breaking the fear barrier is crucial for acceptance. There are two main ways in which Urban Friendliness focuses on breaking the fear barrier. One is the fact that each passenger will board a flying car driven by a certified company driver, and this gives people confidence. The other is that the flying cars will fly at very low altitudes and this makes them comfortable and more acceptable. Their ability to fly at fast or low speeds if desired is also a comfort factor. The Varon Vehicles transportation system is being designed with today’s regular people in mind, not only for some future generation; it is being designed to be easily integrated into cities of today. Acceptance by regular people is a crucial part of the transportation system’s architecture. Urban Friendliness considers the cities as well, not only by the innovative mobility solution it offers to day-to-day commuters, but also by offering a zero-emission way of transportation. The V200’s are fully electrical, which is essential for the company to achieve its proposed positive environmental impact.
